Renowned actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is calling on Nigerians to raise their voices despite the world’s often overwhelming attempts to silence them.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Funke addressed the stigma surrounding vulnerability, especially when it comes to emotional struggles and mental health. She reassured her audience that showing vulnerability is not a weakness but a sign of strength—and reminded them that they are never alone in their battles.
Funke emphasized the dangers of remaining silent, urging her followers to speak out because sharing feelings can literally save lives.
“Let them say you’re oversharing!! Let them think you talk too much!! But speak up!!! Because when you’re alive, there’s a solution. Silence can be deadly, but words can save,” she wrote.
She closed with a powerful motivational plea:
“You are stronger than you think. You are braver than you feel. You are loved more than you know.”
Funke’s message carries the hashtags #suicidenottheoption and #notosuicide, encouraging people struggling with mental health issues to reach out and find hope.
