Comedian and cleric Woli Arole has ignited important conversations around gender roles in marriage, challenging long-held misogynistic beliefs that silence women in the home.
In a powerful Instagram post, Arole condemned the notion that women should not express their opinions or have a voice within a marital relationship. He called this ideology not only outdated but also harmful to the health and balance of any marriage.
“The ideology that women cannot talk or have opinions in marriage is wrong,” Arole wrote. “Men, submission doesn’t mean dumbness; your wife is your help meet. At times, the salvation of the home will be in her mouth.”
He stressed that submission, whether understood from a biblical or cultural standpoint, should not equate to a woman being silenced or intellectually dismissed. Instead, he emphasized the importance of mutual respect and communication, noting that a woman’s voice can often offer critical insight and solutions within the home.
By speaking out, Arole has joined a growing number of voices advocating for more equitable and respectful partnerships, where both men and women are heard, valued, and supported
