Veteran Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale melted hearts as she knelt in gratitude to honour legendary actor and filmmaker Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, during the premiere of his new film Her Excellency.

The star-studded event, held on Sunday, June 29, was more than just a movie premiere — it also celebrated Salami’s remarkable 60-year milestone in the Nigerian film industry. Her Excellency is set to hit cinemas nationwide on July 4.

In a deeply emotional moment, Sobowale took centre stage to acknowledge the pivotal role Oga Bello has played in her life and career. She described him as a man of integrity, generosity, and action, whose selfless nature has impacted countless lives in and beyond Nollywood.

“God used him to take me where I am today. I have never done this in my life, but I am going to do it today. Ese Modupe. I am very grateful.”

The King of Boys star went on to praise Salami for being a mentor not only to her but to many across generations — men, women, young, and old — describing him as someone whose legacy lives on through those he has supported.

Sobowale also used the moment to appreciate Oga Bello’s wife, fondly called Mama Wale, acknowledging her unwavering support behind the scenes:

“One thing that I will never forget and have been waiting for the opportunity to say is Mama Wale. You supported him, and that’s why he is standing the way he is today. You will enjoy the fruit of your labour.”
