Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has expressed doubts about raising his future children in Nigeria.
Speaking on the Dear Ife Series podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, Falz was asked if he would consider raising his kids in the country. Caught off guard by the question, he admitted he hadn’t given it much thought.
“That’s a deep question,” he said. “I didn’t expect it. I haven’t really thought that far, let me not lie.”
Falz explained that while he deeply loves Nigeria, the country’s challenges — including insecurity, economic instability, and threats tied to his activism — make it hard to imagine raising a family there.
He added, “It’s something I can’t say ‘yes’ to because of the issues we’re talking about — the insecurity, threats to me as an activist, and the general complacency of Nigerians.”
