Popular Nigerian rapper and on-air personality, Nnamdi Nwabasili, better known as N6, has strongly condemned recent proposals to create more states in Nigeria, describing the idea as reckless and counterproductive.
His criticism comes after a Daily Post report revealed that the House of Representatives has received multiple requests pushing for the creation of 31 new states across the country. Unconfirmed reports circulating online also claim that the Nigerian Senate has approved the creation of 12 new states, although no official statement has been made.
Taking to his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, N6 expressed his outrage, calling the move “madness.” He argued that in a time when Nigeria is battling deep economic and political challenges, adding more states would only multiply the country’s problems.
“Creating 12 new states in today’s Nigeria is madness. 12 new governors and deputy governors. 12 new government house construction projects. 12 new white elephant airport projects. Lord have mercy,” he wrote.
N6 warned that the plan would only expand the size of government, increase unnecessary spending, and fuel more corruption, instead of addressing existing governance failures.
His remarks have sparked widespread debate online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns about bloated government structures and misplaced priorities. As the conversation grows, citizens and political commentators alike are questioning the real motives behind the push for state creation — and whether it genuinely serves the public interest.
